On 27 April 2026, President Liu Chuanyong of Shandong Second Medical University, accompanied by Wang Chenggao, Member of the Party Committee and Vice-President, and Xu Qiang, Deputy Director of theJinan International Medical Center Management Committee, visited the Jinan Microecological Biomedicine Shandong Laboratoryfor an exchange. They were accompanied by Li Xingang, Deputy Director of the Laboratory.
The delegation, led by Liu Chuan-yong, first gained a detailed understanding of the laboratory’s development background, strategic positioning, research framework and phased achievements. They focused particularly on the laboratory’s initiatives to address national strategic needs and international academic frontiers in the field of microecological biomedicine, and to establish a full-chain innovation system encompassing ‘basic research – technology development – industrial transformation’. They also noted the positive progress made by the laboratory in areas such as gut microecology and chronic disease intervention, technological innovation in microbial community regulation, and the clinical translation of research outcomes.
Li Xingang extended a warm welcome to Liu Chuan Yong and his delegation. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including microecological medical research, mechanisms for integrating medical education, research, and industry, and innovations in talent development models, exchanging ideas and reaching a consensus on cooperation. Both parties agreed that Shandong Second Medical University possesses a profound heritage in medical education and research, whilst the laboratory demonstrates distinct strengths in the field of microecological biomedicine. Recognising the high degree of alignment in their disciplinary orientations and research areas, as well as the vast potential for collaboration, they proposed establishing a regular communication and coordination mechanism to explore cooperative models such as joint training and academic exchanges, thereby fostering the development of young research talent.
Also in attendance at the event were relevant officials from Shandong Second Medical University, the Jinan International Medical Centre Management Committee, and the Shandong Provincial Laboratory of Microecological Biomedicine.
