On 30 January 2026, the Jinan Microecological Biomedicine Shandong Laboratory successfully convened its 2025 Year-End Review Conference. The event systematically reviewed the laboratory’s developmental progress over the past year and outlined its future trajectory. Attendees included Academician Li Lanju of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chair of the Laboratory's Academic Committee; Wang Fuling, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of Jinan Municipal Science and Technology Bureau; Zhang Zongyong, Deputy District Head for Science and Technology of Huaiyin District People's Government; Yan Xiaojing, Deputy Director of Jinan International Medical Centre Management Committee; Wu Nanping, Executive Deputy Director of the Laboratory; Deputy Directors Xiao Yonghong, Li Xinguang, and Jiang Chunping; alongside all laboratory staff and jointly-trained postgraduate students. The conference was chaired by Li Xingang.

During the meeting, Wu Nanping delivered the laboratory's 2025 annual work summary report. The report comprehensively reviewed major progress and achievements in implementing development plans, constructing research platforms, achieving breakthroughs in key technologies, building talent pipelines, and optimising operational management. Grounded in the laboratory's developmental positioning and national strategic needs in the field of microecological biomedicine, it outlined the 2026 work framework, key tasks, and implementation measures, charting a course for the laboratory's high-quality development in the coming year and laying a solid foundation.

Representatives from the Jinan Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Huaiyin District People's Government, and Jinan International Medical Centre Management Committee delivered addresses, offering high praise for the laboratory's 2025 performance. Wang Fuling acknowledged the laboratory's dedicated research and innovative breakthroughs in microbiome biomedicine, affirming the Science and Technology Bureau's commitment to enhancing support, establishing collaborative platforms, and assisting the laboratory in aggregating premium resources and overcoming core technological challenges. Zhang Zongyong emphasised that as a vital force in regional technological innovation, the laboratory has injected robust momentum into Huaiyin District's biomedical industry development. The district government will further optimise the policy environment and strengthen service guarantees to facilitate the regional implementation of the laboratory's research achievements. Yan Xiaojing stated that Jinan International Medical Centre will deepen synergistic collaboration with the laboratory, leveraging the centre's platform advantages to assist the laboratory in achieving deep integration between research and industry, jointly promoting the high-quality development of the microbiome biomedicine sector.

To recognise excellence and establish benchmarks, the conference featured an awards ceremony for outstanding employees of 2025. Following rigorous evaluation, a group of employees distinguished by exceptional performance and significant contributions received commendation. This ceremony aimed to recognise excellence, promote the team spirit of dedicated research and collaborative problem-solving, and inspire the enthusiasm and innovative vitality of all staff.


Academician Li Lanju delivered the concluding address. She highly commended the systematic achievements attained by the laboratory over the past year. Linking these accomplishments to the national strategy for scientific and technological innovation and global biomedical frontiers, she elaborated on the significant scientific value and strategic importance of the microbiome research field. Academician Li emphasised that the laboratory must continue to focus on major national needs, adhere to originality-driven and demand-oriented approaches, and persistently deepen institutional and mechanistic innovation. She urged striving for greater breakthroughs in theoretical exploration and technological advancement to contribute to the development of Shandong Province's biomedical sector.
