Jinan Microecological Biomedicine Shandong Laboratory Holds Implementation Plan Review and Launch Meeting for 2025 Shandong Provincial Key R&D Programme Competitive Innovation Platform Project

On 9 December, the  Jinan Microecological Biomedicine Shandong Laboratory convened the Implementation Plan Review and Launch Meeting for the 2025 Shandong Provincial Key R&D Programme Competitive Innovation Platform Projects. Attendees included Diao Hongwei, Director of the Basic Research Division at the Jinan Municipal Science and Technology Bureau; Wu Nanping, Executive Deputy Director of the Laboratory; Deputy Directors Li Xinguang and Jiang Chunping; project leaders; technical review experts; and representatives from collaborating enterprises.

During the implementation plan review session, the three selected projects presented their objectives, technical approaches, timelines, budget allocations, and anticipated outcomes in separate breakout sessions. Technical experts conducted in-depth questioning and detailed evaluations regarding the projects' innovation, technical feasibility, risk control, and pathways for outcome transformation, offering a series of constructive optimisation suggestions. Following comprehensive deliberation, the expert panel unanimously concluded that the project implementation plans featured scientific design, clear technical routes, and robust safeguards, aligning overall with the strategic positioning and implementation requirements of the Shandong Provincial Key R&D Programme.

At the second-stage project launch meeting, Diao Hongwei addressed attendees on behalf of the project's supervising institution. He emphasised that competitive innovation platform projects represent a significant initiative by Shandong Province to advance regional technological innovation and drive industrial upgrading. He urged all project teams to prioritise implementation, utilise project funds efficiently and in accordance with regulations, focus on objectives, and diligently advance collaborative research with partner enterprises. The aim is to produce influential outcomes with high commercialisation potential, thereby providing robust support for Shandong's biomedical industry development.

Wu Nanping delivered a statement on behalf of the laboratory. The laboratory pledged to fully assume its responsibilities as the undertaking unit, providing comprehensive support for project organisation and implementation through coordinated services and strengthened oversight throughout the process. It will foster close collaboration between industry, academia, and research institutions to ensure high-quality project completion, thereby continuously advancing cross-disciplinary innovation in microbiome research, applied fundamental studies, and industrial transformation.
