During the opening ceremony, Academician Li Lanju delivered a welcome address on behalf of the organisers. Academician Li highlighted that the conference brings together leading scholars from multiple nations to delve into cutting-edge international advancements in microbiome-related health, disease, and novel technologies, aiming to foster disciplinary exchange and multidisciplinary collaboration. She emphasised that the laboratory focuses on three strategic research directions, dedicated to establishing a comprehensive innovation chain spanning fundamental research to industrialisation. She expressed anticipation that this conference would serve as an opportunity to deepen international scientific cooperation and extended her best wishes for the event's complete success.

Throughout the proceedings, Academician Li Lanju and numerous authoritative experts from home and abroad took to the stage in succession, sharing cutting-edge research findings and practical insights to deliver an academic feast of both depth and breadth for the audience. Beyond the main venue, the conference featured four thematic sub-forums: ‘Viruses and the Human Microbiome,’ ‘Microbiome and Gut-Brain Axis,’ ‘Bacteria, Antimicrobial Resistance and the Human Microbiome,’ and ‘New Microbiome Technologies and Translation.’ These comprehensively showcased the latest scientific advances and major achievements in the field, covering critical areas such as microbial bioinformatics analysis, fundamental research on the human microbiome, microbiome-disease associations, target organ axis mechanisms, diagnostic technologies, and microbiome preparation development.

Furthermore, the second ‘Micro-Macro Power’ Academic Exchange Forum, a key component of the conference, featured specialised presentations by multiple Principal Investigators from the Jinan Provincial Laboratory of Microbiome Biomedical Sciences. These presentations centred on cutting-edge microbiome technologies, clinical research, and translational practices, fully demonstrating the innovative vitality and robust research capabilities of the laboratory's young scientific teams, thereby injecting a ‘youthful energy’ into the conference.
