I. Introduction of the laboratory
Jinan Microecological Biomedicine Shandong Laboratory is the only research and development institution focusing on human microecology research in China, which was registered on 13th August 2021 and is located in Jinan International Medical Center (JIMC). The laboratory is co-founded by the National Key Laboratory of Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases of Zhejiang University, and co-constructed by Shandong University, Nanjing University and Shandong First Medical University (Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences).
The laboratory focuses on ‘microecology biomedicine’ in the field of national science and technology innovation strategic needs and biomedicine international power of strategic science and technology frontier, ‘domestic leading, irreplaceable, world-class, leading the development of’ for the purpose of benchmarking the international advanced laboratories, focusing on the construction of ‘microecology and infectious disease diagnosis and treatment’. It focuses on the three strategic research directions of ‘micro-ecology and health’, ‘micro-ecology and disease’ and ‘new micro-ecology technology’. More than 70 independent projects have been deployed; 22 competitive projects have been approved at national and provincial levels, with a funding of 52.94 million RMB. We have made five major theoretical breakthroughs and technological innovations, such as ‘Targeted human microecology technology for prevention and treatment of chronic and severe hepatitis B virus infection’ and ‘Innovative design and application of in vivo microecological materials and preparation systems’, which have filled the gaps in China and reached the international leading position. The laboratory is the first unit to apply for the national invention. With the laboratory as the first unit to apply for 49 national invention patents, reserves of probiotic food, medical devices, disinfection products and other types of products more than 10, broadly carry out cutting-edge scientific exploration, training of innovative talents, construction of public scientific research platforms, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, to create a base for the training of innovative talents, a new source of high-tech and a new engine for the incubation of the results, and will build a micro-ecological biomedical fields from the ‘Basic Theory Innovation’, “Key Technology Breakthrough”, “Industrialisation” and “Application”. The laboratory will become an international leading platform for scientific research innovation and achievement transformation.

Domestic leading laboratory site
The laboratory covers an area of more than 40,000 square feet, including the main scientific research building, large instruments and experimental animal centre (under construction), scientific and technological achievements transformation pilot base (under construction), the use of information technology systems to achieve professional management of large instruments and equipment, open and shared for the whole society.

Requirements
