On 11 April, the Third Conference on High-Quality Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Strategic Seminar on High-Quality Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the New Era with the theme of ‘Developing New Quality Productivity and Promoting High-Quality Development’ was grandly opened in Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province, with Yu Yanhong, Secretary of the CPC Group and Director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM), Zhao Junning, Deputy Director of the State Drug Administration (SDA), Cao Qifeng, Deputy Director of the Health and Wellness Committee of Zhejiang Province. Cao Qifeng, deputy director of the Health Commission, Liu Gesheng, party secretary of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yu Huiyou, secretary of Tongxiang Municipal Committee of Zhejiang Province, more than ten academicians such as Zhang Bolei and Li Lanjuan, and thousands of experts and scholars participated in the meeting in both online and offline forms. The conference held six parallel forums synchronously around the theme of high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine, with in-depth dialogues from six aspects, including cross-innovation, anti-aging, evidence-based evaluation, innovative R&D and post-marketing research of traditional Chinese medicines, assisting the development of bone health, and respiratory health.
Academician Li Lanjuan attended the academician dialogue session and talked with several academicians and professors about the construction of new quality productivity. She mentioned that through the study of the spirit of the two sessions this year, the engine role of science and technology innovation in high-quality development has become clearer. Driven by the development of new quality productivity, the medical industry should also transform and change to digitalisation and intelligence. The application of artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing and other emerging technologies will provide new ways for medical diagnosis and treatment. At the same time, it will promote the formation of new quality productivity of Chinese medicine, accelerate the development of the combination of Chinese and Western medicine, and promote Chinese medicine to the world.

" Academician Li Lanjuan mentioned in the Respiratory Health Forum when she made the theme report of ‘Research and Progress of Intestinal Microecology in Respiratory Diseases’. Chinese medicine has a role in promoting the regulation of intestinal microecology, and has played a great role in the prevention and treatment of new outbreaks of infectious diseases such as H7N9 and Xinguan, while combining with the ‘four resistance and two balanced’ treatment strategy, it is used in the treatment of respiratory tract severe infectious diseases with remarkable results.
Academician Li Lanjuan said that Chinese medicine is a treasure of Chinese civilisation, condensing the great wisdom of the Chinese nation, and she called for adhering to the equal importance of Chinese and Western medicine, inheriting and developing the cause of Chinese medicine, and making joint efforts to guard the health of life, serving the country and benefiting the people.
