To implement the national safety production policy and respond to the call from provincial and municipal governments to strengthen safety production, on 6 June 2025, the Jinan Microecological Biomedicine Shandong Laboratory launched a multi-dimensional, comprehensive safety inspection campaign covering fire safety, biosafety, and equipment safety. A joint inspection team composed of staff from the Laboratory's Party and Government Affairs Office, Conditions and Support Department, and the park's property management team conducted in-depth inspections of key areas across all research platforms and floors, conducting a thorough, detailed, and comprehensive review of potential safety hazards to ensure the smooth progression of research activities.
In terms of fire safety, the inspection team conducted a comprehensive check of fire extinguishers and water hoses in fire safety cabinets on each floor to ensure their integrity and effectiveness, and reviewed relevant record cards. Additionally, they strictly inspected the accessibility of evacuation routes, corridors, and stairwells, prohibiting the storage of any items to ensure the absolute accessibility of emergency exits. Furthermore, the inspection team conducted cleaning inspections and functional tests on fire safety facilities such as automatic fire sprinklers, smoke detectors, and temperature sensors, ensuring the normal operation of the fire alarm system.
In terms of biosafety, the inspection team focused on inspecting the safety management of hazardous chemicals, pathogenic microorganisms, and other materials, conducting a thorough investigation of hazards related to hazardous chemicals and laboratory infections. They also conducted strict inspections of experimental waste, hazardous chemical usage records, and other items to ensure that records matched physical inventory.
In terms of equipment safety, the inspection team conducted a comprehensive review of the secure fixation of gas cylinders, equipment usage records, and safety hazards related to water, electricity, and gas usage in laboratories, assigning clear responsibilities to ensure the safe operation of equipment.
Safety is no small matter; responsibility weighs heavily. Through this comprehensive safety inspection, the laboratory not only promptly identified and eliminated safety hazards but also further strengthened the safety awareness of all staff members, effectively improving the laboratory's safety management standards. The laboratory will use this safety inspection as an opportunity to continuously summarise experiences, improve safety management mechanisms, and reinforce safety measures, providing a solid safety foundation to support the high-quality development of research work.
