In order to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on production safety and fire safety, and to promote the transformation of the fire safety management mode to ex ante prevention, Jinan Microecological Biomedicine Shandong Laboratory held a unique fire safety emergency drill on 8 November.
At the beginning of the activity, the participating staff watched the propaganda film ‘Laboratory Fire Safety Guide’. The film elaborated the importance of fire safety in scientific research activities, analysed common fire hazards and preventive measures, and provided the staff with a rich and varied fire safety knowledge course. Through the film, employees have a more comprehensive, in-depth knowledge and understanding of laboratory fire safety, and further enhance their awareness of safety precautions.
In order to ensure the effect of the exercise, the laboratory especially invited a professional fire safety lecturer, for the staff to explain in detail the correct use of fire extinguishers and fire hydrants. Through on-site demonstration and interactive exchanges, the lecturer made the staff have a clearer understanding and grasp of the operating steps and precautions of fire fighting equipment, which provided a strong guarantee for the rapid and effective use of fire fighting equipment in emergencies.
When the simulated fire alarm sounded, the emergency command was launched quickly. The personnel of each department carried out fire fighting and personnel evacuation in an orderly manner according to the predetermined programme. Under the calm scheduling of the commanding officer, the fire-fighting team quickly picked up the fire extinguisher and fire hydrant and accurately extinguished the fire; the evacuation team guided the staff to cover their mouths and noses, and quickly evacuated to the safety zone in a low position. The whole process was tense and orderly, fully demonstrated the laboratory staff in the face of emergencies calm response and efficient collaboration ability, but also further verify the practicality and effectiveness of the laboratory emergency plan.
In order to allow employees to better grasp the fire fighting skills, the exercise also arranged a practical operation. Under the guidance of professional firefighters, employees have picked up the fire extinguisher, personally experienced the whole process of fire extinguishing. This link not only improves the practical operation ability of the staff, but also provides a strong guarantee for them to extinguish the initial fire quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
The fire safety emergency drill in accordance with the concept of ‘the whole process, the whole element, scenario, combat’, is committed to covering all aspects of fire safety, and effectively enhance the fire safety awareness of all employees of the laboratory and emergency response capabilities. In the future, the laboratory will continue to adhere to the principle of ‘prevention first, safety first’, further strengthen the management of scientific research and production safety, improve the fire emergency plan system, the main responsibility to ensure the personal safety of all employees, and provide a solid guarantee for the laboratory's scientific research and development.
